Work. And some stuff. 10:29 am
Well, the second New girl is gone. She has been replaced with Merc girl, who's attitudes in life all seem to revolve the immediacy of cash. Like water, always flowing downhill, she will take the path of least resistance towards her goal of financial liquidity.

Overall, though, she has a good head on her shoulders and knows what the score is with work. Read: She makes my job easier rather than harder, and this makes me happy.

Earlier today Overly-Flirty-Aging-Homo came in to gush at me about the quality of my work. (Note the distinction between the company I work for and me personally.) He denigrated the work and opinions of my boss in favor of my more youthful and hip innovations, and further told me that he trusted himself in my hands. Despite a general sense of impending dread at having to deal with this guy and, inevitably, having to accept payment from him (no entendre intended) I made some deliberately mediocre suggestions and ushered him out the door. He loved my suggestions more than anyone should have, since they were uninspired and quite banal. But he left the store, the foul aura of his undead presence leaving me free once again to drift into auto-pilot and make headway to the end of the day.

(Some background on this fellow: Overly-Flirty-Aging-Homo works for a plastic surgeon doing what I can only assume is office work of some sort. From the hints dropped by Overly-Flirty-Aging-Homo, he is more than just an employee of this plastic surgeon; he's also a Frankenstein's monster, held together by equal parts baling-wire and Botox(tm). His face has a perpetual expression of petulant glee, his cheeks are sunken to the point of anorexia, his eyes have an unnatural sparkle that no man of his agedness should be allowed to possess, and his lips are pouty. I believe that there are some men in this world that are capable of being attractive: This man is not one of them.
For those of a more geeky bent, the man resembles a Lich from 2nd edition D&D, sans crown.)

Luckily, I pawned off his job to Merc Girl, who has a disturbing habit of coming to me whenever she doesn't have anything to do. I'm thinking of teaching her to download music so that she will have filler activity during the day and to keep her from bothering me when I feel the irregular urge to update Live Journal.
Current Mood: uncomfortableuncomfortable
Current Music: The gentle hum of a band-saw.
